Young children do not always have the words to explain what separation feels like. A familiar story can help begin the conversation.
In The Pocket Kiss, Jade experiences a difficult goodbye with her mommy. Through her story, children can see that missing someone they love is understandable - and that there are simple practices they can try when they are apart.
The book also includes The Junior Toolkit, giving children an accessible introduction to the tools Jade uses in the story. Families can read the book before an upcoming separation, return to it after a hard goodbye, or revisit individual practices when they feel helpful.
The book does not promise to remove difficult feelings. It is designed to help children and caregivers name those feelings, explore supportive practices, and build a shared language they can return to over time.
